In the Stars December 18-25, 2016…shining light of the astrology of the week: Christmas and Hannukah

This week on Christmas Day five planets line up at exactly 20 degrees: Jupiter in Libra; Saturn in Sagittarius; Venus in Capricorn; Chiron in Pisces, and Uranus in Aries (opposite Jupiter). This is an extremely potent arc of planets that form both benefic and challenging aspects. If you have any planets between 17 and 23 degrees, you will likely feel the push for change. Monumental change and surprising breakthroughs and opportunities are possible through the power of these aspects. With Saturn in the mix we can make change responsibly, and with integrity. We can also use it to set new goals that stretch us.  Mercury goes retrograde until January 8. These three weeks give us opportunities to reconsider, re-think, re-work, and re-negotiate. Check documents, appointments, and connections at least twice, and exercise patience and understanding with mix-ups.

If you hosted a holiday party Saturday evening, Sunday’s Virgo Moon will help with clean-up. If you don’t have clean-up to do, you can get a jump start on planning the week ahead, and attend to a lot of things that need to be done. The Moon in mutable earth (Virgo) will be with us the next three days, and will help us efficiently power through our holiday preparations.

Mercury goes retrograde on Monday until January 8. When a planet stations, the energy of that planet is amplified. Mercury symbolizes communication, movement, and travel. There could be a number of issues with travel plans this holiday, besides delays due to weather with this week’s extreme cold. Exercise patience. Mars enter Pisces, a sign where it does not function at its best. Mars has a hard time getting traction; let intuition be your guide. With the big alignments at play that symbolize change, and Mercury retrograde, re-consider plans and directions this week, both large and small. Monday is full of aspects and energy. Expect it to be a pivotal day where you can get some things accomplished, but it will not all go as planned. However, the organized Virgo Moon will help to sort out and ground the disparate energy of the day.

Tuesday we get yet another day of the productive, organized Virgo Moon. This is the last day of the sunny Sagittarius Sun, and the end of the autumn season. Make the most of this day by taking care of tasks and details.

Winter Solstice arrives Wednesday, and a new season begins–winter. Cardinal, action-oriented signs mark the beginning of seasons, followed by fixed, and then mutable signs. This rhythm invites us to act and initiate with the first sign of this season, in this case, Capricorn. The second month of the season, Aquarius in this sequence, calls for solidifying what we set in motion the first month. Then follows the third month of completion, Pisces, in preparation for new beginnings. This day marks the beginning of a month to act on plans, and set things in motion for the winter quarter ahead, utilizing Mercury retrograde to reflect and redirect, if necessary.

Thursday’s Moon-Jupiter conjuction opposes Uranus. Drums roll to boost energy for expansive, surprising opportunities! Focus your expansive energy in the morning before the Moon goes Void of Course mid-day at 11:31 AM PDT. Pause and reflect in the afternoon, and don’t waste your time on meetings, or trying to make connections.

Two days before Christmas on Friday a Scorpio Moon draws us inward. With the Sun in taciturn Capricorn, and the Moon in brooding Scorpio, we will turn to more serious concerns. Mars is moving close to the South Node. Emotions will run strong, so be extra conscious of expressing deep feelings during these holidays. Take your space and keep your cool.

The Saturn-Uranus trine, a major aspect, is exact on Saturday, December 24. This alignment encourages us to work toward new goals that manifest opportunities that push boundaries. Be reasonable and responsible in holiday festivities.

Christmas Day, and Hannukah are Sunday, making it a special day, in addition to the powerful arc of planets, as noted above. A near exact “Thank the Lord” Jupiter-Uranus opposition holds three benefic sextiles within it (Jupiter sextile Saturn; Saturn sextile Venus; Venus sextile Uranus)–all at at 20 degrees. Some people are going to get some big gifts for Christmas. On the other hand, Mars is moving in close aspect to the Nodes from December 23-January 2. Mars will conjunct the South Node (known as Ketu in Vedic astrology) and oppose the North Node (known as Rahu in Vedic Astrology. This pattern is volatile. Enjoy the the day, and the holidays that follow with simple activities far from the maddening crowds.

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Clean up and power through your tasks.

Monday: Mercury retrograde. Lots of activity. Get your jobs done, but flow with the mix-ups.

Tuesday: Productive day. End of the autumn season.

Wednesday: Winter solstice. Beginning of winter. Set intentions for the next three months.

Thursday: Surprises. Suspend work and judgment at 11:31 AM

Friday: Serious day. Emotions run strong. Take your space and keep your cool.

Saturday: Emotions run high, again on Saturday. Opportunities to expand limits, and reach for the stars.

Sunday: Big, powerful aspects. Strong benefic energy, but volatility. Navigate the day carefully and responsibly.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. In the Stars December 11-18, 2016…shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

We are pressed to give form to new ideas, and to break out of the structures in our lives that no longer serve us, as Saturn tightens its trine to Uranus. Another crescendo building is the Jupiter-Uranus opposition, and both square Pluto. Monumental change and surprising breakthroughs are possible through the power of this Jupiter-Pluto-Uranus T-square. Mercury goes retrograde soon; complete agreements and documents this week in preparation for this planet’s reverse spin from December 19 to January 8.

Sunday is a splendid day, graced by the slower pace of the Taurus Moon. A lot can be accomplished with the power of the fixed earth’s Moon trine to Pluto. The Sun is trine Uranus, an aspect that opens us to new, and perhaps surprising, possibilities. We are confident and grounded, poised to make the most of this day. A Moon-Mars square in the evening can make us edgy. You may feel frustrated by all you have to do if you relax, so keep moving.

A Gemini Moon Monday and Tuesday fosters curiosity, conversation, and connection. Cell phones will be busier than usual. A benefic aspect between the Moon and Venus on Monday suggests a good chat with a dear friend.

A Full Moon and numerous lunar aspects create a busy day on Tuesday, buzzing with activity. Saturn is closely aligned with this Full Moon, calling us to be frugal and responsible in our holiday activities, and to get our work done.

Mars and Pallas Athena are conjunct Wednesday, emphasizing strategy and possibility. The Cancer Moon trine Neptune makes for an inspired, artful day.

Thursday is an emotionally turbulent day with the Cancer Moon shining its light on the Uranus-Pluto-Jupiter T-square. At 1:37 PM PST the Moon goes Void of Course. Relax then, and refrain from anything requiring a decision. While the Moon is Void, settle into routine matters. You may as well enjoy an evening concert or a movie. I’ll be enjoying a Judy Collins concert.

A playful Leo Moon makes for a fun Friday. The day is aspect-light, so color it creative and enjoy the day.

The Leo Moon continues Saturday, offering another joyful day. This playful Moon is buoyed with a benefic sextile to Jupiter, and it forms a fire grand trine with Saturn and Uranus. This translates to a day ignited with expansion and possibility. Saturday evening’s aspects are made for a holiday gathering.

If you hosted a holiday party Saturday evening, the Virgo Moon on Sunday will help with clean-up. If you don’t have clean-up to do, you can get a jump start on planning the week ahead, and get a lot of things checked off that need to be done. Sunday is a day to get down to business and get things done.

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Splendid day. A lot can be accomplished. Keep moving.

Monday: Curiosity, conversation, connection.

Tuesday: Full Moon; busy day.

Wednesday: Inspired, artful day. Be strategic.

Thursday: Emotional turbulence. Moon VoC after 1:37 PM PDT. Make it an easy evening.

Friday: Creative, playful day.

Saturday: Made for a holiday party.

Sunday: Clean up and power through your tasks.

In the Stars…shining light on the astrology of the week

The energy of the Mars-Jupiter trine, that was exact last Thursday, is still with us this week as it wanes, and a Mars-Uranus sextile, exact on Tuesday, is in effect all week. These alignments give high energy, initiative, and confidence. Enlarging your scope and create new opportunities. Free yourself from self-imposed restrictions. A Saturn-Uranus trine is another theme; this gives structure to new opportunities. Build on new ideas. This week has two full days when the Moon is Void of Course, Monday and Wednesday. These days are not good for meetings, decision making, or getting a lot accomplished. These days are good for clean-up, attending to insignificant matters, reading, and pondering. Plan the week carefully to make the most of it.

The Sun and Moon make benefic alignments Sunday. The Aquarius Moon calls for us to gather with friends for stimulating conversations. A Moon-Jupiter trine supports expansion and adventure; this would be a good day to plan trips and excursions for 2017. The stars are aligned Sunday for an excellent board meeting of our Green Earth Foundation (or whatever projects you may have planned).

Although we have the bold energy of the Mars-Jupiter sextile in the background, the Aquarius Moon is Void of Course all day Monday. This is a day for considering ideas, and for attending to small matters, but not for decision making. It might be hard to decide what to wear to work and get out the door. Little will be accomplished in meetings or otherwise.

Tuesday sports an exact Mars-Uranus sextile, against the backdrop of the Mars-Jupiter trine. These aspects offer enthusiasm for seizing opportunities, and open us up to new adventures. Unexpected events can move us out of stagnating ruts. When Mars aspects a planet. it is always good to raise your physical energy through vigorous exercise, which then gives more energy for other purposes. Try a new gym or exercise class. Then expect the unexpected, and say “yes” to the day’s offerings.

Don’t expect any concrete results again on Wednesday, as the Moon is Void of Course all day. Take care of routine tasks and chores, and don’t waste your time in meetings that will not produce sound results. Adding to the fog, the Moon is in Pisces. This day is made for dreaming rather than doing. Venus enters Aquarius tropically until January 4, drawing us toward independence, and an appreciation of diverse friendships and points of view.

In contrast to yesterday’s slow and hazy day, Thursday is energized by the fiery, cardinal (action-oriented) Aries Moon. Spring into action, and make up for time lost Monday and Wednesday with those void Moons.

The work week ends with a high velocity Friday. The Aries Moon shines its light on the Uranus-Pluto-Jupiter T-square. The Moon conjuncts Uranus, squares Pluto, and opposes Jupiter. If you push through obstacles and challenges, this can be an extremely productive day. The Sun sextiles Jupiter, giving optimism and confidence to meet, and exceed, the day’s potential. The Moon goes Void of Course at 5:06 PM PST. After a demanding day, relax in the evening as the weekend begins.

The sensual Taurus Moon graces Saturday and Sunday with its slower pace, and attention to beauty. The day is inspired by a Mercury-Neptune sextile. The Sun-Saturn conjunction gives us reality check to the exuberance of the week’s Jupiter-Mars-Uranus aspects. This may be a day for Christmas shopping, as the Taurus Moon loves buying and acquiring things. This fixed earth Moon will help us seek good value, and the Sun-Saturn will help us curb spending. It can be satisfying day if you curb excess, and take it slow. Give your eyes a visual feast by enjoying the holiday lights. Be sure to enjoy at least one excellent meal that please your senses (Taurus Moon loves food).

Sunday is another splendid day. The Taurus Moon trines Pluto. This benefic aspect in earth signs empowers us to get a lot accomplished. The Sun is trine Uranus, another aspect that makes us open to new, and perhaps surprising, possibilities. We are confident and grounded, poised to make the most of this day. A Moon-Mars square in the evening can make us edgy if we are not moving. You may feel frustrated by all you have to do if you relax, so keep moving.

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Benefic alignments make possible expansive discourse. Productive day.

Monday: Moon VoC all day. Focus on routine tasks, with the big picture in mind.

Tuesday: Seize opportunities and expect the unexpected—and get vigorous exercise.

Wednesday: Moon is Void of Course again for a full day. Don’t waste it on meetings or matters requiring decisions.

Thursday: Spring into action, and make up for the lost time of Monday and Wednesday.

Friday: High velocity day. Relax in the evening.

Saturday: Slow and steady day. Shopping results in good value and restraint.

Sunday: Splendid day. A lot can be accomplished. Keep moving.

In the Stars November 27-December 4, 2016…shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon

The Thanksgiving weekend comes to a close on Sunday with the depth and sparkle of the Moon’s sextile to Pluto and Venus. Did you move something far forward with the energy of the Jupiter-Pluto square over the holiday weekend? The Sun shines in Sagittarius tropically, highlighting adventure, travel, philosophy, spirituality, other cultures, and holiday parties.

During Sunday’s productive morning and early afternoon, plan the week ahead. The Moon is Void of Course at 1:48 PM PST for the rest of the day and evening. Relax and watch a movie Sunday evening, and call it an early night to get adequate rest for the coming week.

The work week begins slowly Monday morning with a Void of Course Moon until 12:46 PM PST when the Moon moves into enthusiastic, upbeat Sagittarius. The Moon is dark, just before the New Moon. Usually when the Moon is in Sag we are outgoing and gregarious, but the dark Moon draws us inward before the new lunar cycle begins.

Tuesday’s New Moon comes with numerous planetary pairings and resulting activity. Relationship issues are highlighted. Juno (asteroid symbolizing partnership) is exactly conjunct the Sun and Moon. Venus squares Uranus; the day’s aspects invite possibilities and new ways of relating.

The adventurous Sagittarius Moon continues to color Wednesday with potential. We may wander off course and entertain fantasies (Sun square Neptune). A lunar trine to Uranus stirs excitement.

December begins with a strong focus on work, and the tasks ahead as we prepare for the holidays, and the close of 2016. An energetic Mars-Jupiter trine on Thursday helps us focus on long-term goals and get a lot accomplished. Friday explodes with action from the morning’s Moon-Pluto conjunction, the afternoon’s Moon-Uranus square, and Venus’ entry into Capricorn. Make the most of this extremely productive day.

Mars makes a benefic sextile to Saturn on Saturday, giving us another focused day to get things accomplished. Plan errands and purchases for the afternoon, after the Moon has gone into Aquarius at 11:44 PST. Enjoy a social evening with a diverse group of friends.

The Sun and Moon make benefic alignments Sunday. Gather with friends for stimulating conversations that will expand your thinking. The stars are aligned Sunday for an excellent board meeting of our Green Earth Foundation (or whatever projects you may have planned).

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Productive, sparkling morning. Moon VoC after 1:48 PM PST. Take it easy late afternoon and evening and call it an early night.

Monday: Moon VoC in the morning until 12:46 PM PST. Dark of the Moon, draw inward and take some time out for yourself.

Tuesday: New Moon in Sagittarius. Invite possibilities and new ways of relating.

Wednesday: Exciting, adventurous day.

Thursday: Focus on long-term goals and getting a lot accomplished.

Friday: Extremely productive, active day.

Saturday: Moon VoC until 11:44 PST. Do errands and shopping in the afternoon. Make is a social evening with friends.

Sunday: Benefic alignments make possible expansive discourse. Productive day.

In the Stars November 20-27, 2016…shining light on the astrology of the week

The week ahead is for achieving great things. The planetary theme is the Jupiter-Pluto square, exact on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, with Uranus is tied in, forming a T-square. This aspect can arouse us to achieve great things. However, efforts may run into resistance from others. I heard an interview on NPR radio in which a woman stated she would not be going to her family’s Thanksgiving dinner due to opposing political views. This aspect makes us prone to conflict with people with whom we do not agree. Avoid obsession with your own point of view or course of action. Manage this Jupiter-Pluto-Uranus T-square by remembering that despite our differences, we are all part of the human family. The potential in this powerful aspect is to become empowered to lead, transform, and invent. The empty point of the T-square, the resolution, is the sign of Cancer, symbolizing compassion, home, and family.

Sunday is a playful, creative day that glows with the beauty of yesterday. The Leo Moon makes a Fire Grand Trine with Saturn and Uranus, a day not to be wasted on the ordinary. Fire up your creativity and engage in a hobby that brings you joy, or turn up the music and dance!

Hopefully you have withdrawn into an inward journey the past month, and are now ready to socialize. The Sun moves into fun-loving Sagittarius on Monday for the month ahead. Say “yes” to holiday parties. Monday’s Moon is in practical, industrious Virgo. Now is the time to shoot for the Moon, and get to work getting there.

Mercury sextiles Jupiter on Tuesday, expanding and uplifting thoughts and communication. An early morning Moon-Pluto trine calls for deep cleaning. The Moon is Void of Course all day, so stick with cleaning up messes rather than wasting your time in meetings, or trying to make things happen.

Thanksgiving preparations will not get started until the afternoon Wednesday, as the Moon is Void of Course all morning, and energy is undefined. Finish tidying up and attend to routine matters. Mercury is conjunct Saturn, restraining thought and communication. Given the bold energy of the Jupiter-Pluto square, this could be a good thing. The Moon enters amiable Libra in the afternoon, and we’ll want to put a touch of class and beauty on our holiday celebrations.

Thanksgiving Day arrives with the grace of a Libra Moon. The Jupiter-Pluto square that has been at play all week perfects. Give thanks, and get going on achieving your big ideas. However, note that excessive force wielding one’s strong convictions can be the shadow side of this aspect.  To make the best of it, we must challenge our beliefs, let go of those that no longer serve, and then get on with the pursuit of big goals. A Moon-Saturn sextile tempers the forceful energy.

Venus joins the Jupiter-Pluto square, fueling desires on Friday. The focus is on finances, as all three of these planets focus on some aspect of that subject. Venus is associated with making and spending money; Jupiter is focused on increase and abundance; and Pluto symbolizes wealth. The Moon is Void of Course all day, and it is Black Friday. While the tendency may be to shop and snatch some bargains, curb any tendency to do so, and focus your energy elsewhere. Sound decisions are not supported when the Moon is VoC.

Saturday and Sunday demand solitude, colored by a Scorpio Moon. Feelings are strong, and power struggles and jealousy can show up. Insight can result from deep reflection. Mercury trines Uranus, delivering bursts of brilliance and exciting ideas. A Moon-Neptune trine offers vision.

The Thanksgiving weekend comes to a close on Sunday with the depth and sparkle of the Moon’s sextile to Pluto and Venus. Plan the week ahead during the productive morning and early afternoon. The Moon is Void of Course at 1:48 PM PST for the rest of the day and evening. Relax and watch a movie Sunday evening, and call it an early night to get adequate rest for the coming week.

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Grand Fire trine inspires and ignites.

Monday: Sun in to Sagittarius. Party time for the next month. Virgo Moon: get organized.

Tuesday: Expand and uplift communication. Virgo Moon VoC all day. Time for deep cleaning.

Wednesday: Moon VoC all morning, so don’t expect much until the afternoon. Think before you speak.

Thursday: Time to achieve big goals, but temper the tendency to be boastful.

Friday: Focus on finances, but say “No” to Black Friday shopping. Moon VoC all day.

Saturday: Exciting ideas are generated, and bursts of brilliance abound. Feelings run deep.

Sunday: Productive, sparkling morning. Moon VoC after 1:48 PM PST. Take it easy late afternoon and evening and call it an early night.

Re-sending In the Stars November 13-20, 2016…shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

Wake up slowly to a lazy Sunday. All things sensual, sweet, and simple are highlighted. As the day wears on we can plod along and get quite a lot accomplished with the Moon in fixed earth Taurus. Sunday evening plan for next week, as the Moon is VoC all day Monday.

The Full Moon shines bright early Monday morning. The third of four SuperMoons in a row, this Full Moon is at perigee, its closest to the Earth. In perigee the Moon’s energy intensifies its pull on the tides and tectonic plates, increasing the likelihood of severe weather or geological events. It affects our psyches, as well. The Fixed Earth Moon in Taurus symbolizes accumulation and building; the Fixed Water Sun in Scorpio symbolizes death, letting go, and transformation. Weighing on us are the inseparability of polarities of gain and loss; construction and destruction; and spending and saving. The Sun aspects the Uranus/Eris/Ceres conjunction in Aries, calling us to widen our perspectives on the feminine. The results of the Presidential election have us thinking about this. The Moon is Void of Course all day until 5:23 PM PST, so use the brilliant Full Moon energy for meditation and intention setting, and insignificant small tasks. It is not a day for meetings or definitive actions. The Sabian Symbols for this Full Moon are about raising the vibration of our lives. The Moon’s Sabian Symbol for 23 Taurus is: “A jewelry shop filled with valuable gems; the social confirmation of natural excellence.” The Sun’s symbol for 23 Scorpio is: A rabbit metamorphoses into a nature spirit; the raising of animal drives to a higher level.”

Tuesday and Wednesday are days for conversations, phone calls, and writing projects, any medium that uses the written or spoken word. Curiosity is piqued; open up to what you can learn these two days, even in the most casual way, such as while standing in line at the grocery store. Tuesday’s aspects are a vast mixture of expansion and contraction; laziness and drive; and boundaries and boundlessness.

The Moon is Void of Course all day Wednesday until 4:57 PM PST. You may feel scattered, and may want to just go with wherever that varied energy takes you. Perhaps you’ll discover something amazing! Wednesday evening, when the Moon moves into Cancer, settle in and enjoy a yummy, cozy dinner with your family.

Our attention is on home and family on Thursday and Friday. Thursday is a dreamy, soft, compassionate day until late afternoon when the Moon opposes Pluto, passionately stirring our emotions. Whatever fears or disappointments are rattling around inside of you will need to be addressed. You may as well face the truth, yours or someone else’s.

A Mercury-Neptune square gives confusion and cloudiness to the day. Widen and soften your focus on matters of concern and let your imagination soar. A Sun/Moon trine brings out good feelings and a sense of security and comfort. The fiery Leo Moon lights up the weekend, beginning at 7:14 PM PST. It is then time to let the good times roll!

Neptune stations and moves direct in motion on Saturday. When a planet is stationary, its energy is amplified. Neptune symbolizes art and beauty (as well as illusion and deception). Venus makes a benefic sextile to Neptune, highlighting the artistic, visionary, dreamy, compassionate energy even further. Do something special this day to touch the divine, and engage with the imaginal realm. It is not a day for mundane matters. Visit an art exhibit, or get out your paints. Enjoy a concert, or play music. Write poetry. Infuse and enhance your life with more beauty and inspiration.

Sunday is another playful, creative, day that glows with the beauty of yesterday. The Leo Moon makes a Fire Grand Trine with Saturn and Uranus, another day not to be wasted on the ordinary. Fire up your creativity and engage in a hobby that brings you joy, or turn on the music and dance!

The Week in Short:

Sunday: All things sensual highlighted, and a lot can be accomplished. Plan the week ahead.

Monday: Full Moon: set intentions to raise the vibration of your life. Moon VoC until 5:23 PM PST, so tend to insignificant tasks not requiring decisions.

Tuesday: Connect, converse, and be curious.

Wednesday: Gemini Moon VoC. Scattered day. Don’t try to accomplish anything of consequence, but open to discovery.

Thursday: Compassionate day; emotionally stormy evening. Deal with fears and disappointments.

Friday: Confused communication, and also feelings of satisfaction and comfort.

Saturday: Be inspired and creative. Let the good times roll!

Sunday: Grand Fire trine inspires and ignites us Dance…to the music!

In the Stars November 6-13, 2016

Daylight Savings time ended Sunday morning at 2:00 AM. This ushers in several months of darkness early in the evening after work. It is time to draw inward, build a fire, and cozy up with good books, good movies, and deep conversations. Sunday’s Aquarius Moon gives detachment. It is a day to do what we want as individuals, and not to heed the call of others. Listen, and consider new ideas and perspectives.

The work week begins on a friendly note Monday against a backdrop of opportunity. Lunar sextiles to Saturn and Uranus, and a trine to Jupiter, give possibilities. Open your eyes to omens in your day. The Sun and Pluto are in a benefic sextile. This is a day to make things happen, and to say “yes” to the day’s amiable offerings.

Election Day has at last arrived with a Void of Course Moon through the first part of the day. Lay out your clothes to wear to work the night before, as you will have trouble deciding what to wear, and you will have a more difficult getting out the door. Attend to unimportant tasks until the Moon enters Pisces at 1:45 PM PDT. Election night is colored by the charity and compassion of a Pisces Moon. With all the election strife the past weeks and months, we’re going to need the faith, forgiveness, and hope that the Pisces Moon has to offer.

We get off to a soft and dreamy start Wednesday. As the day wears on it become more demanding and challenging. A Saturn-Moon square in the afternoon calls us to take care of our responsibilities; fortunately, a Moon-Pluto sextile gives us the power to flow with the day’s demands. An evening Sun-Moon water trine makes for a feel-good evening, drawing us toward quiet and solitude. End the day with a soothing hot bath.

The Moon continues in compassionate Pisces through most of the day Thursday. After a short Void of Course period from 3:16 to 5:45 PM PST, it bounces into action-oriented Aries, and offers a fresh start in a new lunar cycle.

Friday, Veteran’s Day, is a day for action, whether you are on the job or have the day off. The Aries Moon aspects Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn, stretching us out of our comfort zones, and creating momentum for expansion and change. Venus enters Capricorn, where it colors our work with pleasure,  and calls us to conserve financially the next few weeks through December 8.

A Moon-Uranus conjunction makes for an unusual start to Saturday. Then, the Moon is Void of Course all day. It’s not a day for shopping or errands, or making big things happen. Clean house, or work in your garden. The Moon enters Taurus at 6:24 PM PST. Pause, and enjoy a delicious and beautiful dinner with people you love.

Wake up slowly to a lazy Sunday. All things sensual, sweet, and simple are highlighted. As the day wears on we can plod along and get quite a lot accomplished with the Moon in fixed earth Taurus. Plan your next week Sunday evening, as the Moon is VoC all day Monday.

Looking ahead to the holidays, Christmas Day has some powerful aspects. A near exact “Thank the Lord” Jupiter-Uranus opposition holds three benefic sextiles within it (Jupiter sextile Saturn; Saturn sextile Venus; Venus sextile Uranus).  All of these planets are exact at 20 degrees. Some people are going to get some big gifts for Christmas. I heard that Christmas shopping is expected to be strong this season, and these aspects would support that. Wonderful things could happen with these aspects. On the other hand, Mars is moving in close aspect to the Nodes from December 23-January 2. Mars will conjunct the South Node (known as Ketu in Vedic astrology) and oppose the North Node (known as Rahu in Vedic Astrology). This pattern is volatile. Stay away from crowded places. Enjoy the holidays with simple activities far from the maddening crowds.

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Daylight Savings Time ends (2:00 AM). Independence fostered. Consider new ideas and perspectives.

Monday: Say “yes” to the day’s amiable offerings.

Tuesday: Election Day! Moon VoC until 1:45 PM PST. Then a compassionate Pisces Moon softens the evening.

Wednesday: Flow with the day’s demands.

Thursday: New lunar cycle begins at 5:45 PM PST when the Moon moves into action-oriented Aries.

Friday: Active Day. Stretch out of your comfort zone.

Saturday: Moon VoC all day until 6:24 PM PST. Clean house or garden, and leave shopping or other definitive or important matters until another day.

Sunday: All things sensual highlighted, and a lot can be accomplished. Plan the week ahead.

In the Stars October 30-November 6, 2016…shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon

This week starts dark and deep with a New Moon in Scorpio. Hopefully, you have been able to ground yourself through solitude and silence this past weekend. We need this quiet month in preparation for the Sagittarius Sun, and all of the holiday parties and festivities ahead.

A new lunar cycle begins with the New Moon in Scorpio on Sunday. Set new intentions around shared finances, and strong emotional issues. Scorpio is the sign of regeneration, calling for cleaning up old debris in your life to make way for something new. A Mercury-Neptune trine colors the day poetic. Heighten your imagination by watching a dark, mysterious film, or writing a poem.

Halloween Monday is quiet on the astrological front. Since it is the beginning of the work week, and a New Moon in Scorpio, it is a good day to make an appointment with your financial planner, look into refinancing your mortgage, or make a bigger commitment to retirement savings. It’s a dark and stormy night, perfect symbolism for Halloween.

All Saints Day is Tuesday, set in the glow and optimism of an adventurous Sagittarius Moon. The Sun is trine Neptune, activating our imagination.

Wednesday is a very active day astrologically. Large, expansive experiences are possible, but the Sun/Saturn conjunction mid-day calls us first to address responsibilities and commitments. Deep thinking and truthful conversations foster good problem solving (Mercury sextile Pluto). A Moon-Venus sextile sets the stage for a congenial, social evening.

A Moon-Uranus trine early Thursday morning colors the day with independent thinking, and unusual interactions. It is not a day to accomplish much, as the Moon is Void of Course all day. It is a day for reading and pondering, and attending to small matters. Don’t waste your time in meetings, or matters requiring decisions. End the work day chilling out with friends and colleagues over happy hour. Soon enough the Moon will be in serious, responsible Capricorn (8:05 PM PDT).

Friday is a good work day, one in which you can get a lot accomplished, and have some fun as well. A Venus-Uranus trine colors the day different. Travel a new route, and do at least one thing out of the ordinary.

Saturn’s Day, Saturday, is colored by the Capricorn Moon’s ruling planet. It is definitely a day for hard work, but it may not go as expected. Consider new ways of getting things accomplished.

Daylight Savings time ends Sunday morning at 2:00 AM. Clocks turn back an hour, giving us more light in the morning, and less at night. This ushers in several months of darkness early in the evening after work. It is time to draw inward, build a fire, and cozy up with good books, good movies, and deep conversations with others. Sunday’s Aquarius Moon gives detachment. It is a day to do what we want as individuals, and not to heed the call of others. Listen and consider new ideas and perspectives.

Sunday: New Moon in Scorpio. Set new intentions around shared finances. Clean up debris that is weighing on you. Poetic day to raise the art and beauty vibration in your life.

Monday: Set goals to improve your finances. It is a dark and stormy night—the perfect energy for Halloween.

Tuesday: Allow your imagination to lead you to adventure.

Wednesday: Active day. Problems can be solved. Handle your responsibilities, and then open to expansive possibilities. Enjoy others’ company in the evening.

Thursday: Moon VoC all day. Don’t waste time on meetings and matters of substance, as things won’t come together. Set tasks aside and join with colleagues for happy hour.

Friday: A good work day to get a lot accomplished, and have some fun, too.

Saturday: Work hard, and be open to new ways of getting things done.

Sunday: Daylight Savings Time clicks in (2:00 AM). Independence fostered. Consider new ideas and perspectives.

Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.

Exact Void-of-Course Moon times for the month ahead (one lunar cycle) are:

In the Stars October 23-30, 2016…shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon

Mars and Pluto were tightly conjunct this past week. Did you experience turbulence–or breakthrough– in your life? These two powerful, potentially destructive planets, still in tight alignment, may bring issues to the surface in an explosive, or definitive manner. In the coming week Mars moves ahead a few degrees, and although we will still experience this energy, it will be less intense. How to use it? Petal to the metal and get things accomplished. Dive deep into a difficult issue and confront the truth. Let go of old, worn-out systems and move forward.

The Sun has entered Scorpio, ushering in this autumn month where we want to go deep, and claim some solitude. We need this quiet month in preparation for the Sagittarius Sun, and all of the holiday parties and festivities ahead. This next month calls for putting a log on the fire, curling up with your beloved—or a good book, and getting plenty of rest.

We have a sunny Sunday, with the Moon in playful Leo, and making benefic aspects to Jupiter and Saturn. Make it a playful, expansive day, and get ready for a productive work week ahead.

Bounce out of bed early Monday. A trine between the Moon and Uranus in fire signs sets the tone for the day:  expect the unexpected. It’s a day for discovery, but not a day to get a lot accomplished. The Moon is Void of Course all day after it aspects Uranus. Take care of small matters that do not depend on appointments or making decisions.

Tuesday and Wednesday is that time of the month to clean house and get things done; the Moon is in practical, industrious Virgo. Its ability to analyze and discern may be complicated by its opposition to Neptune. A Venus-Neptune square calls us to our ideals, but life isn’t likely to live up to them, as Saturn squares the Moon. It’s a mixed day when you want to get a lot accomplished, but time and money are too easily spent, and we are seduced until Saturn calls us back to reality late in the day.

We feel expansive and generous on Wednesday. The practical Virgo Moon aligns with the powerful Mars/Pluto conjunction. Use all this benefic energy to take stock of your finances and relationships. The Moon is Void of Course all afternoon and evening after 11:33 AM PDT, so ponder the possibilities, but do not take any action steps or make decisions at least until the following day.

Life is copasetic with the Moon in Libra Thursday. It is a good day to move forward on the money matters or relational issues that you have been pondering the last couple of days. The day calls for action.

Friday is mixed with the Libra Moon conjunct Jupiter, and making benefic aspects to Saturn and Venus. These alone would make for sweet opportunities and satisfaction. However, Mars squares Uranus and the Moon squares Pluto, two extremely turbulent aspects. We may be impulsive and easily angered, so go slow and stay cool. Channel this mixed package of astounding potential into a constructive project.

We have another long Void Moon day, the third one this week, on Saturday. The Moon is dark, calling us inward. The Moon makes hard (challenging) aspects to explosive Mars and Uranus. Pull back and dwell in solitude. Venus conjuncts Saturn, curbing excess. It is not a day to shop or for gathering with others. Read a book, clean up your garden, pay bills, and attend to financial matters.

A new lunar cycle begins with the New Moon in Scorpio on Sunday. Set new intentions around shared finances, and strong emotional issues. Mercury trine Neptune colors the day poetic. Heighten your imagination by watching a good film, going to a concert, or visiting an art exhibit.

Saturday: Another emotionally turbulent day. Keep it simple. Sun enters Scorpio.

Sunday: Playful, expansive day.

Monday: Moon Void of Course all day. Stick to tasks not requiring decisions, but be open to surprise.

Tuesday: Practical work day, but dreamy.

Wednesday: Expansive and generous day. Moon VoC all afternoon and evening after 11:33 AM PDT.

Thursday: Harmonious day to focus on money matters or relational issues.

Friday: Mixed day of astounding potential, but high volatility. Go slow and be careful.

Saturday: Yet another day with the dark Moon VoC all day. Rein it in, and give yourself solitude and rest.

Sunday: New Moon in Scorpio. Set new intentions around shared finances. Poetic day to raise the vibration of art and beauty in your life.
