In the Stars December 13-20, 2015…shining light on the astrology of the week

The light is dimming as we move closer to the darkest day of the year on the Winter Solstice, December 21. This is the last week with the Sun in Sagittarius tropically. The sunny Sag Sun draws us to holiday parties, and encourages us to make them merry and bright.

The Moon is gaining light as it builds, after a New Moon in Sagittarius last Friday. This signaled a time to make travel plans, literally and metaphorically. Set intentions for new explorations.

The early morning hours Sunday are extremely volatile, due to an intense and edgy cardinal T-square with the Moon (Moon conjunct Pluto, square to Uranus and Mars). Awaken with extra awareness and attention, and move carefully and deliberately into your unfolding day. When the energies are strong and challenging, as these are, it is good to meet them with action and exercise caution. Vigorous physical exercise is always good, as it utilizes the tension in a beneficial way. Sunday is a serious, somber day, powered for productivity. Get organized and get moving. Much can be accomplished until 3:07 PM PST when the Moon trines Jupiter, and goes Void of Course. This aspect will lighten up the evening. Wrap some holiday gifts, light a fire, and relax after the loud rumblings of weekend activity.

Monday is an expansive day in the light of a Sun-Jupiter square. You may feel overextended. The Moon is in Aquarius, an air sign that tends to express with chaos. Thoughts are diffuse and yet can be inspiring. Take time to ground, and then stretch yourself toward meeting the day’s demands.

Tuesday the Moon continues to shine in friendly, tolerant Aquarius. Flowing aspects make it an easy and congenial day. Allow your mind to open past its usual grasp. Be generous, gregarious, and open to the surprising gifts of the day.

Wednesday through Friday afternoon the Moon is in charitable, compassionate Pisces. These days close to Christmas, and to the end of the year, call on us to open our hearts and to write checks to our favorite charities. Volunteer and give generously to your favorite social causes. Wednesday is uncomplicated and inspiring. Thursday is a more active day, one ripe with opportunity. Stop and think about your holiday budget and spending, and consider your desires and motivations. Make conscious decisions around matters of love and money. Friday is an edgy day. Examine the past and let go of old patterns and beliefs that no longer serve. Then, when the Moon moves into Aries at 1:26 PM PST, embrace the future and move forward. The Aries Moon ushers in a glowing weekend, with the Sun and Moon both in fire signs. Party down as much as possible. Color the weekend fabulous!

Saturday is a day for action. Deep thoughts and conversations result from a Mercury-Pluto conjunction. Think before you speak. If you have a lot of holiday preparations to do, this is a day to lean in, harness the energy, and power through your tasks.

Sunday is another dynamic, active day. Creative thinking abounds; capitalize on it. The end of the weekend invites new ideas about how to navigate your life ahead.

The Week in Short:
Sunday: Edgy day. Use the strong, active energy to get a lot accomplished. Moon VoC after 3:07 PM PST calls for a relaxed evening attending to routine tasks, or reading by the fire.

Monday: Expansive day that can be chaotic. Ground, and then meet the day’s demands.

Tuesday: Easy, flowing day. Be generous, gregarious, and open to surprise.

Friday: Let go of what no longer serves, and embrace the bright future. Get your glow on Friday evening and start the partying weekend.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet and before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. You will more easily get lost or meander if you’re trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
