In the Stars November 8-15…shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon

The Sun is now in Scorpio tropically, the sign that symbolizes the deep: deep emotion, curiosity, and mystery. A lot of quiet time is needed to ponder the depths, so this is a time to pull back to a posture of restoration and prepare for winter before the sociable Sagittarian season ahead. There is a New Moon on Wednesday, and the days before it when the Moon grows darker draw us even more to quiet solitude.

On Sunday the peace-loving Libra Moon is jostled by challenging aspects to disruptive Pluto and Uranus. Consider how to graciously move around obstacles in your path and avoid pitfalls and tempting hazards.

The Scorpio Sun makes a benefic trine to Chiron on Monday, promoting holistic healing. Get an acupuncture or chiropractic tune-up or a healing massage, and make it an easy, quiet, restorative day.

Tuesday’s Sun-Jupiter sextile lights up the big picture of our lives at the same time we are drawing inward at the dark of the Moon. Focus and hard work are promoted by Mars (in industrious Virgo) opposing Vesta. The New Moon in Scorpio (19 degrees) is likely to make for an emotionally intense day. A benefic lunar sextile to Jupiter will help lift our spirits. New Moons symbolize new beginnings. Look to the place in your horoscope where 19 Scorpio is located and set some intentions for that area of your life. The nodes change signs on Wednesday, moving into the service sector of the zodiac with the North Node moving into Virgo and the South Node into Pisces. The Nodes will be in this sector for 1 ½ years, calling out compassion, charity, and selfless service.

The sunny Sagittarius Moon gives us an emotional lift on Thursday, but its conjunction with Saturn keeps us on task and focused on what needs to be done. Mars moves into Libra, where it is not particularly comfortable, but its stay in this sign through early January calls us to communicate and negotiate with others calmly and fairly.

The weekend is buoyed by the optimistic, adventurous spirit of the Sagittarius Moon through Saturday afternoon. Friday evening calls for a party, so create one if you don’t already have an invitation. Venus-sextile-Saturn brings together elements of love and money. Consider long-term goals and check your spending urges at least twice before acting on them.

The Moon is Void-of-Course nearly all day Saturday, so take a hike or a day trip to explore something new. It’s not a day for shopping or anything requiring definition or decisions. The Moon moves into Capricorn at 4:12 PM PST where it demands hard work and getting a lot accomplished on Sunday and Monday. Sunday’s Moon-Pluto conjunction may make the day challenging and unsettling, yet we can harness the energy to face some work that really needs to be done.

The Week in Short:
Sunday: Edgy, turbulent day. Move through obstacles with kindness and understanding.
Monday: Get a massage or do something to foster healing and restoration for your body.
Tuesday: Exuberant day, but one to draw inward at the dark of the Moon. Work hard.
Wednesday: New Moon in Scorpio. New beginnings. Deep emotions stirred.
Thursday: A sunny day with grounded focus.
Friday: Sagittarius Moon wants to party Friday evening. Check urges to spend money.
Saturday: Moon VoC all day in adventurous Sagittarius. Take a hike.
Sunday: Serious day calling for hard work and facing tasks that need to be done.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet and before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. You will more easily get lost or meander if you’re trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
