In the Stars September 6-13, 2015…shining light on the astrology of the week: Solar Eclipse

The Sun continues its movement through the sign of Virgo tropically, and energy mounts toward a Solar Eclipse at the week’s end. This is the month for self-improvement, for putting your life in order. Clean and organize your house. Power on through your “to do” list. The New Moon in Virgo next weekend doubles the energy available for these pursuits.

Saturday features a Sun-Pluto trine in Virgo that supports the strivings called for now. More sparkling lunar connections will further the generation and exchange of ideas, making the work of organizing more fun. Let great ideas flow! The Moon goes VoC Saturday evening (4:04 PM PDT), so put your work away and enjoy a fun and frolicking evening.

Sunday will have a slow, meandering start with the Moon continuing VoC until 10:40 AM (PDT). Then the Moon moves into Cancer, crowning a day for home and family activities. Cook some delicious comfort food to share with people near and dear to you. Venus is stationary direct, after being in retrograde motion for the past six weeks. When planets are stationary, changing direction, their energy is amplified. Venus symbolizes relationships and finances. This would be a good day to review your financial and relational goals and commitments, and to think about how you want to move them forward. The planetary positions make this a sweet and compassionate day.

Labor Day Monday is a stormy Monday. Pluto and Uranus combine their volatile energy with the Cancer Moon. Tempers can flare more easily, so take extra precaution to stay calm and centered, and give others more space. Turbulent planetary energy can also be used to get things moving: With the Sun in Virgo, and the Moon in Cancer (symbolizing the home), it’s a good day to clean your house or garage, or to work in your yard.
Tuesday is an energetic day supported by two dynamic trines that can help us get a lot accomplished: Mars trine Uranus (in Fire signs Leo and Aires), and Moon trine Saturn. The Mars/Uranus combination loves change. Vary your routine and be willing to take a somewhat calculated risk. Allow the sizzling planetary energy to light up your life in new ways.

A bold and lively Leo Moon fires up the mid-weekdays Wednesday and Thursday. Be warned: tension abounds through a Mercury-Pluto square, exact on Wednesday. Focus this heavy energy on a writing project or something that requires deep thought and attention to detail. Wednesday evening’s lunar contacts with Mercury and Venus ease the interpersonal tensions and can help create a pleasant evening. Thursday’s lunar conjunction with Mars and trine to Uranus encourages action with enthusiasm.

Next weekend from early morning Friday through Sunday evening, the Moon is in Virgo, the time of the month to put greater order in your life and power through your task list. There’s a partial Solar Eclipse at 20 degrees of Virgo—exact at 11:41 PM PDT Saturday night or at 2:41 AM Sunday EDT. Eclipse effects may show up for about three months before to three months after the actual eclipse. They can mark major beginnings and endings, and may deliver unexpected events during the weeks before or after. Chiron is closely tied into this eclipse, exactly opposite the Sun and Moon. We may be able to tune in to just what we need to heal our lives now. The Moon is dark on Friday and Saturday, just before its conjunction with the Sun. Dark Moon days call us to draw inward and work on finishing projects and tying up loose ends. However, the lunar conjunction with Jupiter and opposition to Neptune on Friday evening can amplify and soften Virgo’s drive to work. Pause and take in an uplifting movie or take an inspiring class and learn something new. There’s plenty of intense, grounded energy to get a lot accomplished this weekend. Capitalize on this extra strong energy from Friday through Sunday to clean and make your house sparkle and get your life in much better order!

Wednesday: Focus mental tension on a detailed, challenging project.
Thursday: Take action enthusiastically.
Friday: First of three days to clean up and organize your life.
Saturday: Intense day with Solar Eclipse at Midnight (PDT). Power through your “to do” list and make the most of the Virgo Moon.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet and before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. You will more easily get lost or meander if you’re trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.

  1. Joseph John Lang, Ph.D. says:

I’m always puzzled by the mention that eclipses — any of them — can be shaping things for us up to three or six months ahead of time. So many things happen that are powerful and astrologically significant owing to transits, etc., how are we to know what the eclipses “stand for” in our charts?

I have in the past noticed, once in a while, that some very powerful event or occurrence happens right close to the eclipses, but I wouldn’t have necessarily “seen it coming.” I may be partly answering my own question when I refer to watching the transits and other phenomena that are astrologically symbolized. Relating all these directly to any given eclipse seems hard to do.

  2. You’ve answered the question. Eclipses are very unpredictable in terms of the event, as well as the timing. I don’t think you can plan for eclipses, but rather observe if they are connecting strongly with your horoscope. It is good to slow down and do a lot of meditating and contemplation, as it is an intense time.
